11/30: Um, Well, November Wasn't Quite Over

After my last blog, I didn't think I would get out to play until the weekend. I was incorrect.

I made it down to Cap around 630ish and quickly ordered the Double Mushroom Chicken and Steam Rice prior to sitting down, which is delicious btw. My new table was opened shortly, and I drew bad as usual and posted the BB.

Hey, look at that, 1st hand I get red Jacks and raise 6 people, yay!! And we are off, unfortunately the flop is Q-high, mono-suited (clubs) and I bet the flop 3 calers and the turn is a 4th club effectively ending the hand for me. So much for a good start.

Next hand I end up rivering a weird straight and getting paid off for a little profit to get me back to even...

Here is where the night took off. I raise 4 limpers in a Kill-Pot w/ KK and be the whole way and get paid off on an all unders board. Weeee, nice pot there. A few hands later, I raised red Nines UTG, get 3 bet by the button, the SB caps it, BB calls, and all call. Flop is 9-high (mbn) and get paid off by 1 person who was all-in at the river decent start :-)

Then, I felt a rumbling...Aces hold in a 4-way pot for a sick pot. AK flops hard in a kill pot and holds. I make a play and get there w/ a rivered flush against SK (see Nik's blog).

More thunder and lightning. 88 goes runner-runner for tilt factor against some guy who full on berates me, I fucking love it. I win another hand him w/ AK in a big multi-way pot. And, I am just gonna say it, God-Mode Engaged.

We played 6 handed for like an hour and a half were I made some good plays, like semi-bluff raising and getting there with a big combo draw. And then just straight snap raising a guy w/ A-high, barreling the turn w/ the flush/over card hit, and hitting an Ace on the river. Aces flop a set and hold again. Weeeee....

When all was said and done the result looked like this.

I enjoyed that configuration :-)

I ran awesome. Came up +$450.

11/29: End to November

So after a terrible last session this past Saturday, I tallied up my results. Overall I ran pretty well for the month.

TP: +$400
TSP: 13hrs
BB/hr: 3.8BB/hr

Hopefully with the holiday approaching and the nights getting longer, I will be able to put in some work and have some long sessions and really push my game and though processes up to another level before Vegas in January.

----------

Online, I haven't really been playing that much at all. It goes in waves for me, sometimes I feel like I want to fire up a few tables, but I just can't stand not playing live. It is more fun and entertaining to me.

----------

On the strategy front, particularly I have found that turn aggression has been a little suspect in my game. I have turned it up quite a bit. I have gone for some raise/fold lines on the turn in spots where I felt that I could be showdown (semi-bluff) raising with the best hand and got burned for it. ROT? most likely but I like those plays sometimes.

Standard example:

Hero limps behind 2 limpers in LP w/ A6 soooted (raise pre???). 5 to the flop.

Flop: 862 (1 of my suit)

Checked to me in position, I bet w/ 2nd pair. 2 calls.

Turn: 3 (of my suit, I pick up nut frush draw).

1 Limper bets, 1 call, Hero???

Call? Raise? Fold???

I found myself in these situations at least 4 times the last 2 sessions. I kinda like to raise here w/ the NFD and there is only a 1 liner to a straight out there. Its possible we have the best hand, 1 limper in between might fold an 8 and we can showdown 2nd pair or hit our flush etc.

This might (most likely) is way off, but I just wanted to put it out there.

What do you think?

--------

I want to hit Cache Creek soon, or Cordova w/ the $200 Aces cracked that runs for 6 hrs everyday and $100 for the other 18 hours.

See you at the tables.

-Out.

11/26: Belch

Puked on myself...
Kicked in the groin...
Overall just flat got slapped around...

Well, after all the turkey had made its way through my system, I decided to join Nik down at Cap for what I thought would be a good day for some 6/12, however the must move was shit and I decided to play 4/8.

Oh well, that might have been a good decision. I hate playing in a bad game with the possibility of getting stuck and then being faced with the task of having to grind back at a lower stake game.

I will just say this will be a short blog as I only won 2 hands, both without showdown. Its pretty difficult to win monies when you are card dead and don't hit a flop. As is life, that is how it goes some times.

I did manage to value town someone my first hand with 2nd pair in a kill pot getting 3 streets in against a weaker 2nd pair. But that was about it. I had to fold an over pair on a 4-flush, paired, and 4-staight board, which would have been good but there was a bet on the river and 2 callers in between, so I am obv not good right, wrong, lol live pokers I guess.

No big deal, as the session went I got turned a lot and had to lay down some decent hands to turn check raises.

No real hand histories to report just that I got outflopped 2x in some big multiway pots and got to showdown some hands and not call a river bet.

That is all.

Oh, yeah, read Nik's up coming blog, you will see what it is like to have everything go right and just straight CRUSH a table.

MBN right?

Sick, sick day at 6/12 for him.

In other life news, (prepare for brag post).

Brag: New position should be opened up for me which that comes along with about a 15% raise. I say should because of the organization that I work for is known to take months to get on shit like this.

Beat: More worthless meeting, and middle management type crap that I have no business being involved with at my level of experience. Yay for upcoming mistakes, lol?!?

Variance: This is wouldn't be taking place until August of 2011 :-(

11/21: Wait I had a blog???

Well, obviously, there is a a BLOG in here...

Where the hell have I been??? Well, to be honest, lots of fucking places in the last 6 months since my last blog entry.

I'll give a little Cliff Notes of what went down my last 2 Vegas trips, trip to Europe, P.E. Exam, and oh yeah teh pokers.

So starting off at the top the June Vegas 67 trip was my longest time spent in Vegas ever, 7 days, 6 nights. That is a long-ass time. Dare I say, too long. It went awesome though. Now since all of the guys on 67 are IRL friends, we found lots to do and talk about outside of degen'ing at the worlds most skill-related poker game...Cap NL Omaha, what a fucking swongfest. The world cup was in full swing, England lost, US won so that made us all happy except for AlbinoKid, who disappeared for a day following England's atrocious performance against Algeria, or Kazakhstan, of Tahiti. Oh, those damned Tahitians what a soccer powerhouse.

As for the poker, it has now pretty evident that the poker economy has evened up with the world economy in that the good 10/20 games of a couple years ago have dried up, and the 8/16 game at Venetian which was semi-decent last January, is now becoming a nit-fest and only a few live ones wanting to gambooool up. I think total overall for the trip, I had a slight loser like $400-$600, mostly from being hit w/ the run bad and card-deadedness the entire trip.

Greatest moment of the trip: Rambler losing CCR at the deli. Like 20 people in unison screaming "Yahhhhhhh!!!" at 3am in the middle of a packed Carnegie deli, soooo epic.

-------

On to my next trip, after returning from the dumpster fire that is Jacksonville, FL, I went to a bachelor part for 2 people. Pokers: +/- $0, meh, Sapphire was epic. It will definitely on the docket for the January trip weee. Everyone had an awesome time I a pretty sure of that. Shifty and my other buddy Nick are now married so big congrats to them.

Europe: Where the history comes from.

Well, 2 days after returning from the bachelor party trip, the gf and I boarded a plane for Europe and a hosteling adventure. A quick run down of awesome points/cliff's on the trip along with the place we visited.

Land in Dublin: Proposed to Girlfriend, she said yes :fistpump:

London: Sick ass place, possible site of future 67suited forum meet, so clean, easy to get around, great eats/beer. Met up w/ Albino Kid and HG. Such great times. Thx guys for making it down to London.

France: Calais & Paris. FUCK YOU FRANCE...in the words of ahhhhhsht, "I hope you all get cancer of the dick and die." Worst.Cuntry.Ever.

Switzerland: Lausanne. Holy fuck this place is awesome, expensive as shit. How expensive you ask??? About $30 at a McDonalds expensive. I love Lausanne, it is incredible, right on Lac Leman, and great people.

Italy: Rome, Florence, Venice. Rome-cheap, dirty, great food, can be seen in a day. Florence, one of the greatest places on earth, best food I have ever eaten, very intimate setting but has the gypsy. Venice, a great place to get lost, and drink lots of cheap wine from a bag.

Austria: Innsbruck. Just like Davis, CA. College town, great breweries, strip clubs galore, and live gambling everywhere. Kick ass zoo as well.

Germany: Augsburg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Cologne, Munich. All amazing places, met up w/ a friend from SLO, Thomas at Oktoberfest, just like beerfest the movie btw. Rothenburg, medieval village with walls still in tact, great night watchman tour. Cologne, stopped there for a bit, got to see the Dom, such a goth cathedral and pretty sick place.

Belgium: Brussels, Brugges. Waffles, beer, waffles beer, dutch people. Brussels in a town that doesn't wake up until about 11am and doesnt turn off until about 3am. Brugges was kinda meh to be quite from.

Dublin one more time for emPHAsis: Guinness factory tour, drunkards peeing on buses, and more beer.

Fly home. Amazing trip.

------

Well Europe was pretty much all of September, October was pretty much a polar opposite. I studied for 1 month straight for the Professional Engineers exam. Pretty fucking hard test. We will see how I did in like 3 months.

------

Pokers: SD and I had been playing pretty regularly up to the time of the bachelor party trip and I had been doing pretty alright. Took all of September & October off, and finally made my return to the LHE arena a couple weeks ago. November is going decent.

After looking at my records, it looks like I am up an OK amount for the year (for someone who doesn't really play all that often), somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.5-3k. My hourly is about 1.85BB/hr, not Santi like, but I'll take it. I am really looking to start playing more, and improving my game. I really feel that I am looking at the game in a different light and that I am evolving as player, pushing edges in marginal situations where I was pretty unimaginative before.

So, I am going to try and get the blog going again on a pretty regular basis and posting strats at 67.

------

Vegas in a 7 weeks bitches.
